Short answer
Open Trash at the bottom of the sidebar, search for the page, open it and select Restore. If the page still exists but its content is gone, use •••, then Version history, instead. If the page has left Trash, message Notion support from ? at the bottom of the sidebar.
The catch: Trash is not permanent. Notion deletes pages from Trash after 30 days by default, and there is no button to empty it all at once.
Below: the steps for Trash, version history and support, which one fits your case, and how long each window stays open.
How to recover a deleted page in Notion, step by step
To recover a deleted page in Notion, start with Trash and move outwards only if the page is not there. The first group covers Trash, the second covers a page that exists with its content missing, and the third covers a page that has left Trash.
-
Look in Trash first
Open Trash and search for the page
On the web or desktop, select Trash at the bottom of the sidebar. On iOS and Android, it is in the ••• menu at the top left of the sidebar. Search for the page by title. If you belong to more than one workspace, switch to the other workspaces and look in their Trash too.
-
Filter Trash when you do not remember the title
Use the filters at the top of Trash: Last edited by for the last person to edit the page, In for the page it used to live in, and Teamspace for its old teamspace. Filtering by the parent page is the quickest way to find a subpage that went with a deleted parent.
-
Open the page and restore it
Open the deleted page to check it is the right one. You cannot edit a page while it is in Trash, only restore it or delete it permanently. Restore it, and it goes back to the workspace. Pages stay in Trash for 30 days by default.
-
If the page exists but content is missing
Open Version history
Open the page, select ••• at the top, then Version history. You need at least Can edit access. Notion keeps 7 days of history on the Free plan, 30 on Plus, 90 on Business and unlimited on Enterprise. It records a new version every 10 minutes while someone edits, and another two minutes after the last edit.
-
Restore the version, or copy only what you need
Select a version to see what changed, then Restore to make it the current page. To recover only some blocks, copy them from the old version and paste them into the current page. Restoring is reversible: open Version history again and restore the newer version.
-
If the page has left Trash
Ask an Enterprise workspace owner
On the Enterprise plan, permanently deleted pages are retained for a period an owner sets, 30 days by default. A workspace owner can find them under Settings, Content search, filter Page status to Retained pages, then select ••• and Restore to original location. Only workspace owners can do this.
-
Message Notion support quickly
On other plans, message support from ? at the bottom of the sidebar. Notion keeps backups of its database and can restore a snapshot of your content from the past 30 days. Give the page title, the workspace and roughly when it was deleted. The 30 days run whether or not you have asked.
-
Check whether anyone exported the workspace
A workspace export contains pages as they were on the day it ran. Look for the zip that Notion emailed to whoever exported it; the download link expires after 7 days, so the file has to have been saved somewhere. It will not include private pages the exporter could not see.
A common case: a colleague cleaned up a project and deleted a parent page six weeks ago, and today you need a subpage from it. It has left Trash, and support backups only reach back 30 days. Step 8 is the one left: an export from before the clean-up is the only copy.
Every window here closes on a timer that starts at deletion, which is why Trash comes first and support comes quickly.

Deleted Notion page not in Trash?
- You cannot edit the page you found in Trash
Pages in Trash are read-only. Restore the page first, then edit it.
- There is no button to empty Trash
Notion has no way to empty Trash at once. Delete pages one by one, or leave them: they are removed automatically after 30 days.
- Version history does not go back far enough
History depends on the plan: 7 days on Free, 30 on Plus, 90 on Business. Older versions are gone unless support can restore a backup from the past 30 days.
- A restored database has empty pages
Restoring a database brings back its pages and properties but not the text inside those pages. Restore an earlier version of each page on its own.
How long Notion keeps a deleted page
A deleted page goes through up to three stages. First it stays in Trash for 30 days, where anyone with edit or full access to it can restore it.
After Trash, Notion retains the page for another 30 days. Only Enterprise workspace owners can view and restore pages during that period. Custom retention settings let Enterprise owners change both periods, from one day to 10 years, and restore retained pages themselves.
Separately, Notion keeps backups, and support can restore a snapshot from the past 30 days.
On most plans, the page is yours to restore for 30 days and support’s for about 30 more.
Match your case to where to look
| Situation | Where to look first |
|---|---|
| Page deleted recently | Trash, then restore |
| Page exists but text is gone | Version history on the page |
| Page deleted more than 30 days ago | Notion support, then any export |
| Enterprise workspace, page left Trash | A workspace owner, in Content search |
| A database restored without its page text | Version history of each page |
When it was archived, not deleted
On Business and Enterprise plans, Notion has Archive, currently in beta. An archived page shows a yellow banner and is hidden from search by default, but it is not in Trash and links to it still work.
To find one, search with Content status set to All pages (including archived). In a database, archived pages are under the database’s Settings, View archived pages. Select Unarchive in the banner to bring the page back.
How to make the next recovery easy
A few habits cover the gaps that the timers leave:
- Export the workspace from Settings, General, Export all workspace content, on desktop or web. Large exports can take up to 30 hours and the email link expires after 7 days, so save the zip when it arrives.
- On Business and Enterprise, archive finished pages instead of deleting them; archived pages never enter Trash.
- Check Trash for a missing page within the first month, not when a project restarts.
Look in Trash first, and do not wait
Most deleted pages come back from Trash in under a minute. The cases that go wrong are the ones where somebody noticed after the 30 days.
Search Trash today, and message support the same day if the page is not there.
Restoring Notion pages: what people ask
- Does Notion Trash empty automatically?
- Yes. Pages stay in Trash for 30 days by default and are then deleted permanently. Enterprise workspace owners can set a different period, from one day to 10 years.
- Can Notion recover a permanently deleted page?
- It can. Notion keeps backups and can restore a snapshot of your content from the past 30 days. Message support from the question mark at the bottom of the sidebar.
- What is the difference between Trash and version history?
- Trash holds pages that were deleted whole. Version history holds earlier versions of a page that still exists. Missing text on a page you still have is a version history problem.
- How far back does Notion version history go?
- Seven days on the Free plan, 30 days on Plus, 90 days on Business and without limit on Enterprise.

When you need this
When a page is gone from the Notion sidebar, or is still there with half of it missing, Notion can usually bring it back. It keeps deleted pages, old versions and backups for fixed periods, so which one you need depends on what happened and how long ago.
